Maggie Wheeler

Chief Executive


Founding the Focus Group in 2001, Maggie has been running corporate events dedicated to increasing commercial awareness of HR, Customer Engagement and Experience. Focus Group now run events each year which attract delegates, sponsors and speakers from organisations such as Metrobank, BT, Unilever, Disney, Virgin, Coca-Cola, Fiat, O2, Symantec, LoveFILM, Yahoo!, RBS Group and Deutsche Bank.

With significant numbers of repeat attendees who value the practical advice offered at our events, they can take this back to the workplace. Customer Experience World (CEW) is not only regarded as the premier event in the industry but, also backed up by a year-on-year increase in attendees.

Maggie believes that “your people are your greatest assets” and wants to promote the employee engagement process as the means for organisations to improve their brand positioning in the marketplace. Before establishing the Focus Group Maggie managed sales forces, promoting sponsorship in the pharmaceuticals, telcos, financial services and HR sectors. Her last role as an employee was as Divisional Director at IIR.

Maggie's project management and leadership skills, coupled with a clear understanding of the HR / Customer Engagement and Experience industry has helped her to organise, manage and run numerous successful corporate events, creating and aligning key topics to leading experts to produce cutting edge programme content, Customer experience, Service delivery, and Employee Engagement/Leadership. 


David Wheeler

David Wheeler is not only committed to creating long term business and personnel relationships, but also to building a community of experts through linked-in, various interest groups and general networking.As a result he has devoted most of his career to customer experience and has been involved with the Focus Group since it was founded in 2001.

His project management and leadership skills, coupled with a clear understanding of the HR / Customer Engagement and Experience industry has helped him to organise, manage and run numerous successful corporate events. Before joining the Focus Group, David gained front line sales experience over a career spanning 15 years.His specialities include:

Sandie Wells

Chief Marketing Officer


Entrepreneurial marketing specialist, creative writer and blogger who specialises in helping small companies to expand and deliver their potential. 

I am passionate about resolving the complex, difficult issues an aspiring company of today faces. The majority of which often falls in the field of marketing where highly qualified, relevant and interested suspects are in far too short a supply. 

I look at solving business problems using the entrepreneurial marketing tools of today, whilst constantly keeping in touch with the innovations of tomorrow. These tools and the strategies needed for companies to build their market position is very different to the traditional marketeers tool box. This offers massive opportunities for my customers. Starting with strategies distilled from leading marketing thought leaders, I utilise the social media channels and offline resources to create a group of "raving customer fans" which are then perfectly placed to sell to. 

My specialities include: Entrepreneurial marketing strategy for ambitious brands - Growth marketing for start-ups - Managing online communities via multiple social channels - Innovation and business growth strategy - Brand and company personality Identity that really connects with customers.

Having started out my working life in the entertainment industry, I feel this has helped shape my "can-do" attitude and certainly helps me thrive on tougher marketing challenges. A consistently evolving industry makes marketing as exciting as stepping on stage for the first time and hearing the audience applause- it's infectious!
