Nigel Risner: Turning Limited People Limitless

Nigel Risner started his own business in 1983 and became one of the youngest CEO at the age of 26. He quickly realised that running organisations was not that complicated but working with people and getting the most out of them was the challenge. It occurred to him that understanding people’s personal needs and their communication styles was paramount to their success.

He started working with The Academy for Chief Executives in 1997 and quickly became a sought-after speaker. Nigel worked in many different industries, mainly specialising in peak performance and human development and is the only speaker in Europe to have won all of these three awards:

  • In 2001 and 2010 he was awarded Speaker of the Year from The Academy for Chief Executives.
  • In 2005 he was awarded Vistage International Speaker of the Year.
  • In 2009/10 Footdown awarded him Speaker of the Year.

In his career, Nigel delivered keynotes to more than 1.5 million people worldwide, in 40 Countries. It was through this experience that he realised most people fall into four categories in communication. On the 17th October in Birmingham National Motorcycle Museum at the CEW2017 Nigel will reveal how you can become a more effective zookeeper by recognising the variety of communication styles used by the animals in your zoo and adapting your strategy accordingly.

Nigel has developed his own unique understanding of communication styles. At the CEW2017 you will learn how to identify and relate to the various personalities in your life:

  • The visionary, single-minded lion,
  • The playful, extrovert monkey
  • The careful, analytical elephant and
  • The caring, supportive dolphin

Whilst there have been many other models used his method of zoo keeping different animals is now used not only by Police Forces around the Country but also many National Health Trusts.

He is currently working on introducing four new animals to the Zoo!

Nigel currently speaks approximately 100 times a year. His main philosophy is that there is no such thing as difficult customers and staff – there are different customers and staff.

At Birmingham, he will also be joined by a fellow speaker Geoff Ramm. For the first time ever at our CEW events, Geoff and Nigel will be doing a joint interactive session! This is most definitely 'a cannot miss affair' and we are very excited to offer this to our Birmingham delegates!
